Liam Gillick How are you going to behave?
A kitchen cat speaks

-
-

For more than a year Liam Gillick has been travelling, researching and developing his project for the German Pavilion in continuous dialogue with curator Nicolaus Schafhausen. Making extensive use of computer modeling of the existing Pavilion and following a long period of work on site in Venice the final questions for Gillick circle around models of social behaviour and the problem of how to create new forms of address within loaded ideological sites.
-
For Farimani’s ninth audio program, Gillick has provided audio taken from his installation for the German Pavilion at this year’s Venice Biennale. For this work the artist, with his studio team led by Thomas Huesmann in Berlin, created an animatronic cat that sits on top of one of the kitchen cabinets Gillick has installed in the Pavilion. The cat fights against the echo in the building and tells us a circular story of misrepresentation, misunderstand-
ing and desire. More info here

Morten Riis Digital Sound Drawings

-

Morten Riis is a young Danish composer with a degree in electronic music composition from The Royal Accadamy of Music. His work focuses on the investigation of error within analog and digital sound systems, approaching the limits of what is technologically and musically possible in contemporary concrète.
-
-
Digital Sound Drawings is a collection of 6 pieces composed for the Portuguese label Crónica. Through the drawing of images and their direct conversion into sound, Riis presents a carefully hand-crafted work that places dual emphasis on composing not only the sound but also the visual appearance of its waveforms. music.television
